Whether you represent a school, a sporting club, an environmental group, or a community association, your experiences with our parks, trails, recreation areas, and open spaces will help us ensure they meet the evolving needs of our community.

Your input will directly influence how we plan, manage, and improve over 200 open spaces across the Shire. We want to understand how these spaces support your activities, what challenges you face, and what opportunities exist for better use and accessibility.

How Your Insights Can Assist

Your feedback will help us:

  • Identify key priorities for open space improvements.
  • Ensure facilities are designed to support a range of community needs.
  • Address gaps in access, inclusivity, and functionality.
  • Improve the planning and activation of parks, recreational areas, and natural spaces.

By sharing your experiences, you are helping us create a strategy that enhances the health, wellbeing, and lifestyle of all Moira Shire residents.

How We Engaged

From Thursday 13 February to Sunday 9 March, we invited the community to share their insights on Moira Shire's open spaces through a variety of Engagement tools. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Your feedback is now being reviewed to help shape the Draft Open Space Strategy.

Residents provided detailed feedback on how they use parks, trails, and recreational areas, and what changes they would like to see.

Community members dropped pins to highlight what they love about our open spaces and suggest improvements.

Local students participated by completing activity sheets, sharing their ideas on what makes great open spaces.

Stakeholders and community groups provided input via email and in discussions with our Recreation Planning and Development Team.

Council developed a stakeholder pack containing materials to help share the engagement among networks, including social media posts, newsletter content, and contact information.
