Council is seeking feedback on a proposal to acquire Lot 1 on TP342194M on Chapel Street, Nathalia from the Nathalia Angling Club for $5,000 to resolve an encroachment occurring on the Club’s land and so the club can construct a fence on their boundary.

A survey of the land identified that Council's infrastructure was encroaching on the clubs land. As shown in the below aerial photo, their south boundary has been encroached by a sloped gravel road that provides access to Council’s pumping station inside the levy bank. The other encroachment occurs on the southwest corner where a section of bitumen road at the intersection of Chapel and Manifold Streets has also been constructed on their land also.

Discussion on several potential solutions occurred, however the preferred option is for Council to purchase the section of land (approx. 174sm) of land along the length of their south boundary.

A plan of subdivision has been prepared with the club authorising the proposed boundary realignment so that Council can purchase the portion of land.

Submissions on the proposal are invited in accordance with Section 112 of the Local Government Act 2020 and Council's Community Engagement Policy until 4pm Wednesday 3 April 2024.
