Numurkah Local Safety Forum Event Completed

19 June 2025

The second Local Safety Forum was held in Numurkah on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, bringing together community members, Victoria Police, and Moira Shire Council to discuss key safety issues.

The forum focused on crime prevention, road safety, and community wellbeing, with presentations from Inspector Ash Mason and Senior Sergeant Nathan Ractliffe.

A strong message from Victoria Police was the importance of reporting incidents to Crime Stoppers as soon as they occur. All reports go directly to local police and are investigated as thoroughly as possible. Residents were encouraged to provide detailed information, including photos or videos, to assist with investigations.

Victoria Police also announced an increase in staffing at the Numurkah Police Station, with four additional officers now in place, making it a well-resourced station for the community.

Residents were reminded that if they ever feel unsafe or believe police assistance is needed, they should call 000 immediately. Police strongly advised against going outside at night to investigate suspicious activity. Instead, turn on lights, make noise, keep blinds closed, and wait for police to attend.

Other issues raised included e-scooter misuse, unsafe drone activity, and opportunistic offences. Ongoing community involvement remains vital to address these concerns.
